The short answer is "Yes!" If you are a human being, you have developed habits throughout your years on our beautiful planet. Some of those habits are good, and some of them are not. That being said you have to decide whether you want to be a creature of "good" habits or a creature of "bad" habits. The good news is that you get a choice. The positive habits will often propel you forward, but they often require that you make an effort to change. Alternatively, you can chose to fall prey to the negative habits that seemingly infiltrate our life to hold us back, but require little effort on your part to maintain. Essentially what you are deciding is do I want things to stay the same, or would I like to move forward and make my life better!

Actively choosing to establish a productive habit (think eating healthy, exercising, reading, etc) requires you to change your current patterns and typically will take 21 days (according to Duhigg). However, bad habits are much easier to fall into. Which do you think is easier to do - Sit on the couch or go to the gym? Grab fast food or go home and make yourself a healthy meal? Which tastes better a cup of black coffee or the new Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino (quite possibly the least healthy "coffee" in the world - 59 grams of sugar in a 16 oz drink)? In all of these examples, the "right" choice is pretty clear, so why is it so difficult to make the right choice? It shouldn't be! Take back the power, and make the "right" choice for 21 days and watch the "good" habits form and watch your life change for the better!

Most of what I know about habit formation came from reading Charles Duhigg's book The Power of Habit. Which I would highly recommend reading! Here is a great infographic about habit formation and a TED Talk from Charles Duhigg!
