What an amazing weekend! The team that I worked with all weekend, was made up of 8 providers. 4 were Physical Therapists and 4 were Chiropractors, but if you watched us treating the athletes you would not have been able to tell who was who. That is a huge sign of progress for both professions. Treatments from one provider were obviously going to be somewhat different, but for the most part we were all treating the same types of injuries, using the same techniques and tools. There were 4 Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) tools that were being shared among all of the providers, all brought from different facilities... each facility used the same exact tool! To give you an idea there are about 30 different IASTM tools on the market right now, so the odds of all of us having the same tool are pretty slim. Two of us brought a Hypervolt, which was a great tool to treat the delayed onset muscle soreness that these athletes were dealing with. Several of us brought some type of "floss" to treat muscle soreness as well. It was VERY cool to see all the similarities between our professions throughout the weekend.
All in all, this past weekend at the MACC was an amazing experience. I learned a ton from the other providers, and had to opportunity to work on some of the best athletes in the world of CrossFit! What more could I have asked for!
I can't wait to it all again next year!
