Do you have a favorite?

We all seem to have a favorite form of exercise... but do you know why? Is it really the best one for you? Are you sure?

Before you can definitively pick a favorite form of exercise you have to ask yourself one very important question...

What are you trying to accomplish?

Are you trying to lose weight? Set a new PR on your half marathon? Compete in a power lifting competition? Be able to get up and down from the floor so that you can play with your kids/grandkids?

This is a very common conversation in our office. The exercise routine that you chose to use should align with your answer to this question! Too many people simply chose their favorite form of exercise because it is what they have always done. That is not a good enough reason to stay on the same path without exploring new options.

We NEED to change from time to time. Einstein said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results." This pertains to exercise more than you know! Many people will continue to do the same form of exercise as long as they can without even considering the fact that there may be a better way to reach their goals!

There is one type of exercise that will help you reach all of the goals that we talked about earlier... Strength Training will help you reach each and every one of those goals! Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by strength training. STOP IT! Getting stronger is not scary! As a matter of fact, it should even excite you!

Getting stronger is the closest that you will come to taking a drink from the fountain of youth that Ponce de Leon was searching for! Don't be afraid of getting bulky. If you are not sure where to begin, ask for help! We are happy to help you find the best type of strength training for you! Remember that to get stronger you will need to challenge yourself, and maybe even step out of your comfort zone. The strength you gain will only ensure more independence as you age!

DRINK UP!
