Are you working or waiting?
Earlier this week, I heard someone utter a really profound statement.
"We live in a microwave society."
Have you ever heard that statement before? I hadn't, until a couple of days ago. It is a great metaphor for life in the year 2021.
The more that I thought about the statement, the more I realized that it was true. As a society, we don't seem to want to take the time to prepare and cook a proper meal. Many of us simply want to take the meal out of a box and throw it in the microwave to prepare dinner for our families. Many are constantly looking for the easiest way to do something. The path of least resistance.
We all seem to want an instant fix for our issues. No matter how long it takes for those issues to develop, we seem to always look for the fastest, easiest solution for the problem. Unfortunately, that is just not how the world works.
If it took you 30 years to get out of shape, you are probably not going to get back to that level of fitness in 30 days. It is going to take some time. And that is OK! Be patient!
A friend of ours just landed her "dream job." We were ecstatic for her, but there is no way that she would have been selected for that position if she had not been putting in the effort over the past 20 years. If you saw a recent post on social media, you might think that she was just in the right place at the right time. That could not be farther from the truth. She EARNED that position through years of dedication and hard work, it wasn't just handed to her.
Are you putting in the time and effort needed to accomplish your goals? Or are you just waiting for something amazing to happen to you?
