Earlier this year I mentioned that one of my goals for 2019 is to establish a reading habit and to read 25 books this year. Incidentally, I am currently on pace to finish closer to 30... but I felt like a slacker earlier this week when one of my patients told me that she reads a book per week! Let that sink in for a second... that is almost twice as many books as I will read this year. Needless to say, I was quite impressed and felt a little more motivated!
I am currently reading a book called Dare To Lead by Brene Brown. Her name may sound familiar because I mentioned her in one of my newsletters a couple of weeks ago. This book has been recommended to me several times by several different people over the past 6 months, so I knew that I needed to pick it up and read it. I am only about 75 pages into it, but I am across a really powerful quote that really resonated with me.
This quote spoke to me. The truth is that the things that scare us are often EXACTLY what we need to do to break through a barrier. We see this almost every day in our office. So many people get caught up in being afraid to do something because they expect the result to be pain. That expectation of pain is more often than not a limiting belief. That limiting belief can prevent us from leading the life that we want to live.
The next time that you find yourself nervous to try something, remember that you will never know what you can or can't do, until you try it!
Do not allow a POTENTIAL negative outcome to stop you from reaching for your dreams!
