Less stress, and more happiness!
Earlier this week, I stumbled across another one of those thought provoking statements that sticks in your head for a couple of days. I was scrolling through a social media feed and a friend of mine shared a tweet that read
"Nobody can make you happy, until you are happy with yourself first."
This statement could not be more true. I recently had a great conversation with a friend who was feeling down in the dumps. The biggest reason that he was in the dumps was that he was feeling extremely stressed. Unfortunately, his stress seemed to be coming from every aspect of his life - work, family, and friends. You name it and it was causing him stress. That level of stress would wear down the best of us. I wanted to help him figure all of this out. But what could I possibly do to help my friend get out of this tailspin?
The quote above hints at the answer, but does not provide a complete answer. In order to be happy with everything else in our lives, we must first look within. We need to be happy with ourselves and who we are, FIRST. A big part of the journey towards being happy with ourselves is making sure to make time to do things that we enjoy. When we are happy in our own skin, we are better equipped to handle the stress that the outside world throws at us.
Do the things that make you happy in life. Do them as often as possible. It is the easiest way to make sure that you are happy. And that you stay that way!
