2022 is here!

I cannot believe that that I am even saying this, but welcome to 2022! What are you focused on this year? Have you thought about it? It's time to get on it. We are already one week into 2022. 

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been spending a considerable amount of time thinking about setting my personal goals for 2022. As I went through my goal-setting process, I noticed that a lot of the goals are similar to goals that I have set in previous years. The actual targets may have changed a bit, but the goals seem to revolve around the same concepts. Read more books, Exercise more, Choose better foods, Spend more time with my family... The list doesn't seem to change much year after year, but it does highlight where my priorities lie.

Then I started to wonder. Why is it that some years I will crush my goals, and other years I miss the mark? Is there something that is different from year to year? Is there something that I can do to help me reach my targets this year? 

Then it dawned on me... There is a quote that I hear attributed to Jim Rohn a lot. Years ago, he said "You are the average of the 5 people that you spend the most time with." Chose your five people wisely. (I added that last part.) after reflecting on that quote, another thought popped into my head. What if instead of being the average of the five people that we spend the most time with...

Cue the lightbulb moment in my head. That is what needs to change. That is how I will easily reach my goals this year.

Choose to shop, have healthy food available, and food prep ahead of time so that you don't need to order take out 3 times a week.

Pay attention to the things that you spend your most precious commodity on. Choose to invest your time to build new, good habits rather than spending it on the same habits that may be holding you back.
