It is finally the 4th of July! I have to admit that I love the 4th! I mean, who doesn't love beautiful weather, hot dogs, hamburgers, fireworks, and a dip in the pool? Am I right? Actually, the thing that I love the most about the 4th is that it is also known as Independence Day. Independence is what life is all about!
Each and every one of us needs to have the freedom to do whatever we want to do, without limitations. Regardless of whether we are talking about establishing our own democracy in 1776 or declaring our freedom from pain. I tell my patients all the time (yes, you have probably heard me say this to you in the past, so please bear with me)...
"It is our job to create independence for our patients, not dependence."
So take a moment to reflect on, and be grateful for, all of the independence that you have in your life. Don't ever stop working to maintain all of the FREEDOM that has been bestowed upon you!
