Dr. Carol walked into the office on Thursday morning and was amazed at how beautiful the sunrise was, so she stopped to take a picture. Then she got closer for another shot of the gorgeous sunrise on our coldest morning thus far.
At first, she was in awe of the beautiful colors but then was startled by something. The little Santa hat was empty... Vlad was gone! When I left the office last night, he was there, and when Dr. Carol walked into the office this morning he was missing. She put her coat back on, donned her flashlight and performed a little search and rescue mission in the bushes below. Luckily Vlad was nowhere to be found. We can only hope that he flew off to find a warmer spot to hang out!
We will definitely miss having Vlad looking over our shoulders! His appearance was such a surprise 7 weeks ago. He gave many of us a chance to observe a part of nature up close in a way that we have never been able to before. Did anyone know a bat could be so furry and cute until they met Vlad? Nature is so amazing. Let's make sure to slow down and notice it this winter.
