Confession time... Every day I talk with patients about their pain. They tell me the impact that the pain has on their lives. They tell me about all the things that they cannot do anymore because they have pain. Their pain often becomes part of their identity. Many people have dealt with their pain for so long they expect to feel it every day. Craig Liebenson (one of our mentors) often says "The hurt that you are feeling is directly related to the feeling that you are hurt."
So rather than focus on the pain and the things that it stops you from doing, I want you to CHANGE YOUR FOCUS. Instead of dwelling on the pain, focus on the things that you can do! For each new challenge that you overcome, I want you to stop and CELEBRATE THE WIN!
Don't tell me what you can't do, show me what you can do!
